In the cyberpunk future of 2019 Los Angeles, retired “Blade Runner” Rick Deckard is forced back into service to hunt and “retire” four advanced, bio-engineered androids called replicants who have illegally returned to Earth. These replicants, created by the Tyrell Corporation for slave labor on off-world colonies, possess superhuman abilities but have short, fixed lifespans. Their leader, Roy Batty, seeks to confront their creator, Dr. Eldon Tyrell, to extend their lives. Deckard tracks them down, encountering his own emotional turmoil and questions about humanity, especially after meeting and falling for Rachael, a sophisticated replicant who believes she is human.
